THEATRE CAMP



Camp Instructions:

  • Parents and Guardians of participating child must complete Theatre Exile’s online COVID-19 Check-in Form prior to drop off for each camp session;

    • Children experiencing COVID-19 symptoms at any point during camp are prohibited from continuing camp

  • Parents and Guardians must sign in and sign out their child with the designated Theatre Exile Staff member;

  • Participants must bring their own lunch;

  • Parents and Guardians dropping off and picking up child participant must wear a mask at sign-in and drop off;

  • Child participant must wear a mask during each full camp session;

  • Child must participate in the end of camp community showcase to receive a certificate;

  • Late Pick-Up Policy: Camp concludes at 3PM.

    • Any student remaining at Theatre Exile up to 4PM; the parent/guardian will incur a fee of $25.00.

    • Any student remaining at Theatre Exile up to 5PM; the parent/guardian will incur a fee of $50.00;

  • Early Drop-Off Policy: Camp starts at 9AM. Early Drop-Off is 8AM-9AM

    • Any parent/guardian needing “Early Drop-Off” for their child needs to coordinate with the Director of Education one (1) week prior to camp. Early Drop-Off is subject to an additional $25.00 fee per day

    Mx. TS HAWKINS - DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

    TS Hawkins (they/them) is an international author, performance poet, art activist, playwright, trauma-informed educator and member of the Dramatists Guild. Plays, short works, and books include Seeking Silence, sweet bread peaches (formerly, Cartons of Ultrasounds), Too Late to Apologize, In Their Silence (formerly, They’ll Neglect to Tell You), #RM2B, The Secret Life of Wonder: a prologue in G, AGAIN, #SuiteReality, “don’t wanna dance with ghosts…”, Sugar Lumps & Black Eye Blues, Confectionately Yours, Mahogany Nectar, Lil Blaek Book: all the long stories short, and The Hotel Haikus. Hawkins’ works and powerful performances have been praised by BroadwayWorld, Philly Voice, NPR, WHYY, WURD Radio, Philadelphia Weekly, Chicago Tribune, The Dramatist, and dosageMagazine. Ongoing projects: TrailOff and Community Capital: an Afrofuturism South Philly Walking Experience.

    CHEYENNE BARBOZA - CAMP INSTRUCTOR

    Cheyenne Barboza (she/her) is an award-winning Director and Playwright hailing from Waterbury, CT. Directing credits: Peter and the Star Catcher (Seton Hill U.), Unbecoming Tragedy: A Ritual Towards Destiny (LWT), Looking Over The President's Shoulder (Millbrook Playhouse), sandblasted (Theatre Horizon), Passing Strange (Long Wharf Theatre), The Secret Life of Wonder: a prologue in G (Antipodes Theatre, NSW), Grace (IAMA), The Agitators (Theatre Horizon), The Wiz (Theatre in the X), The Last Seven Shakers (InterAct Theatre Co.), Cartons of Ultrasounds (reFocus Fest), Trade (Inis Nua Theatre Co.), Directors JAM (Pirronne Yousefzadeh & Directors Gathering), The Secret Life of Wonder: a prologue in G (reFocus Fest). Assistant Directing: How I Learned What I Learned (Dir. Malika Oyetimein, Arden Theatre Co.), The Mountaintop (Dir. Patricia McGregor, PTC). Playwriting: Running Numbers (Playwright, Theatre in the X). In addition, she is the co-founder of AudienceHelp consultants. Cheyenne holds a BFA in Directing, Playwriting & Production from The University of the Arts.

    MONIQUE A. ROBINSON - CAMP INSTRUCTOR

    Monique A. Robinson (she/her) is a multi-hyphenated artivist and healer, who uses the art of storytelling as a way to hold space for others. Monique graduated with High Honors, with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Theatre from Smith College. While contemplating further graduate work in politics, she decided to pursue a more selfless and stable career… and went into acting; she was committed to captivating attention and making others laugh. She received her M.F.A. from University of Washington’s Professional Actor Training Program. With the tools of compassion and vulnerability, Monique is drawn to stories advocating for social justice, accountability and healing!
